The Flatlanders were great and a fine introduction for us to the Houston music scene. Loved them.
In my opinion Rod Stewart's best year was 1971 when he released 'A Nod's as Good as a Wink' with The Faces and 'Every Picture Tells a Story' as a solo album, including iconic songs like 'Stay with Me', 'Maggie May' and 'Mandolin Wind'. He stopped being a credible rock artist with the making of 'Atlantic Crossing' which had a different playlist on either side of the ocean. In the US it had an excruciatingly kitsch version of The Skye Boat song. I spent much of my childhood going 'over the sea to Skye' and have heard that song abused often, but never quite as badly as this version by the former 'Rod the Mod'!
